Protecting your BugSell account keeps your personal information and payment methods safe. Here's how to secure your account.
Creating a Strong Password
Your password is your first line of defense:
Password Requirements
- At least 8 characters long
- Include uppercase and lowercase letters
- Include at least one number
- Include a special character (!@#$%^&*)
Password Tips
- Don't use personal information (birthday, name)
- Don't reuse passwords from other sites
- Consider using a password manager
- Update your password every 6-12 months
Changing Your Password
- Go to Account Settings
- Select Security
- Click Change Password
- Enter your current password
- Enter and confirm your new password
- Click Update Password
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Add an extra layer of security with 2FA:
What is 2FA? When enabled, you'll need both your password AND a code from your phone to log in.
Setting Up 2FA
- Go to Account Settings
- Select Security
- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- Choose your method:
- Authenticator App (recommended) - Google Authenticator, Authy
- SMS - Receive codes via text message
- Follow the setup instructions
- Save your backup codes in a safe place
Save your backup codes! If you lose access to your 2FA device, backup codes are the only way to recover your account.
Backup Codes
Backup codes let you log in if you lose your 2FA device:
- You receive 10 backup codes when setting up 2FA
- Each code can only be used once
- Store them securely (password manager, safe)
- Generate new codes if you run out
Logging Out of All Devices
If you suspect unauthorized access:
- Go to Account Settings
- Select Security
- Click Log Out All Devices
- You'll be logged out everywhere
- Log back in with your password
Recognizing Phishing Attempts
Be aware of scams pretending to be BugSell:
Signs of Phishing
- Emails asking for your password
- Links to unfamiliar websites
- Urgent messages about account suspension
- Requests for payment outside BugSell
How to Stay Safe
- BugSell will never ask for your password via email
- Always check the URL is bugsell.com or bugsell.test
- Don't click suspicious links
- Report phishing emails to support@bugsell.com
Connected Apps & Sessions
Review what's connected to your account:
- Go to Account Settings
- Select Security
- View Active Sessions - devices currently logged in
- View Connected Apps - third-party integrations
- Revoke access to any you don't recognize
If Your Account Is Compromised
Take immediate action:
- Change your password immediately
- Enable 2FA if not already active
- Log out all devices
- Check order history for unauthorized purchases

Security Checklist
Regularly review your security:
- Strong, unique password
- Two-factor authentication enabled
- Backup codes saved securely
- Recovery email is current
- No suspicious active sessions
- Payment methods are yours
