How to Edit Products
Watch Video Tutorial: [VIDEO_PLACEHOLDER]
Need to update your product? Whether you want to change the price, add new variants, update images, or tweak your description, editing products is quick and easy!
Navigation: Getting to the Edit Page
There are two ways to access the edit page for your products:
Method 1: From My Products List
- Go to your Seller Panel (click your profile icon in the top right, then select "Seller Panel")
- In the left sidebar, click on Products and Orders
- Click on My Products
- Find the product you want to edit
- Click the Edit button (pencil icon) next to the product
Method 2: From Product Detail Page
- Visit your product's page on your shop
- If you're logged in as the seller, you'll see an Edit button at the top
- Click Edit to go directly to the edit page
What You Can Edit
You can update almost everything about your product! Here's what you can change:
✅ You Can Edit:
- Product name and description
- Product images (add, remove, reorder)
- Category and tags
- Shop section
- Variants (enable/disable, change pricing)
- Customization options
- Affiliate settings
- Product status (active/inactive)
❌ You Cannot Change:
- Product Types (the types you selected when creating the product)
- Product slug/URL (automatically generated from name)
Why can't I change Product Types? Each product type has its own variant structure. To sell your design on a different product type, create a new product listing.
The Edit Page: Same 4-Step Wizard
The edit page uses the same 4-step wizard as creating a product, but with all your existing data pre-filled. Let's walk through what you can change in each step!
Step 1: Product Types (View Only)
In edit mode, Step 1 shows you which Product Types your product is using, but you cannot change them.
What You'll See:
- Checkboxes for your selected product types (checked and disabled)
- A note explaining that product types cannot be changed after creation
Why This Limitation?
Each product type has different variants (colors, sizes, materials). Changing types would break your existing variant configuration and could affect orders in progress.
Want to Add More Types?
Create a new product with the same design on additional product types. You can use the same images and description!
Click "Next" to move to Product Details.
Step 2: Product Details
This is where you can update your product's basic information. All fields are pre-filled with your current data.
Product Name
Update your product name if needed. Remember:
- Keep it clear and descriptive
- Include the product type and design theme
- Under 60 characters works best
Example Changes:
- Before: "Mountain Shirt"
- After: "Mountain Sunrise Landscape T-Shirt" (more descriptive!)
Description
Update your custom listing description. Remember the two-part structure:
Your Custom Description (Editable)
This is what you can change - your unique selling points, who it's for, and what makes it special.
When to update your description:
- You want to emphasize different benefits
- You're targeting a different audience
- You want to add seasonal messaging
- You're running a promotion
Core Description (Not Editable)
The admin-configured core description (materials, care instructions) stays the same. You don't need to worry about it!
Pro Tip 💡
Improve your description based on customer questions! If buyers keep asking the same questions, add that information to your description.
Category
Change the category if you initially chose the wrong one or if a better category now exists.
Why change categories?
- You picked the wrong category initially
- A new, more specific category was added
- You want to test which category gets more views
Tags
Add, remove, or update tags based on:
- Keywords buyers are searching for
- Seasonal trends (add "holiday gift" in December)
- Performance data (remove tags that don't drive traffic)
Pro Tip 💡: Check your Analytics to see which search terms bring buyers to your product, then add those as tags!
Shop Section
Move your product to a different shop section or add it to a section if you didn't before.
Common section changes:
- Moving products to "Sale" section during promotions
- Creating seasonal sections ("Summer Collection", "Holiday Gifts")
- Organizing by popularity ("Best Sellers", "New Arrivals")
Click "Next" when you've updated your product details.
Step 3: Variants and Pricing
This is where most sellers make updates! You can enable/disable variants and adjust pricing without affecting existing orders.
What You'll See
A separate tab for each Product Type, showing:
- All available variants with checkboxes
- Current pricing for each variant
- Which variants are currently enabled
Enabling New Variants
Want to offer more options? Just check the boxes for new variants!
Example: You originally only sold S, M, L sizes. Now you want to add XL and 2XL:
- Go to the variant table
- Check the boxes for XL and 2XL variants
- Set the price for these new variants
- Save your changes
New variants will appear immediately on your product page!
Disabling Variants
Want to stop selling certain variants? Uncheck the boxes!
Example: Red color isn't selling well, so you want to remove it:
- Go to the variant table
- Uncheck all Red variants
- Save your changes
Important: Disabling a variant doesn't affect orders that have already been placed. Those orders will still be fulfilled.
Updating Prices
You can change prices for any or all variants:
Increase Prices
Maybe your costs went up, or you want to test higher pricing:
- Update the price fields for the variants you want to change
- Save your changes
- New price takes effect immediately
Decrease Prices (Sale!)
Running a promotion? Lower your prices temporarily:
- Update the price fields to your sale price
- Save your changes
- Remember to change them back after the sale!
Different Prices for Different Variants
You can set custom pricing for specific variants:
Example:
- Regular sizes (S, M, L): $24.99
- Large sizes (XL, 2XL): $26.99
- Premium colors: $27.99
Pro Tip 💡
Test pricing changes! Try increasing prices by $1-2 and see if it affects your sales. You might be leaving money on the table!
Common Mistake ❌
Disabling all variants! Make sure you keep at least one variant enabled, or buyers won't be able to purchase your product.
Color Customization
If your product type supports color customization, you can update:
- Design colors
- Background colors
- Accent colors
Changes take effect immediately on your product page.
Click "Next" when you've updated your variants and pricing.
Step 4: Images and Settings
Update your product images and configure additional settings.
Managing Product Images
This is one of the most common reasons to edit a product - improving your images!
Adding New Images
- Click the Upload button
- Select your new images (1200×1200px minimum, PNG or JPG)
- Images are added to the end of your gallery
When to add images:
- You got better product photos
- You want to show more angles
- You're adding lifestyle photos
- You want to show variant differences (different colors)
Removing Images
- Hover over the image you want to remove
- Click the X or Delete button
- Confirm deletion
Be careful! Once deleted, you can't undo it. Make sure you have a backup if you might want the image later.
Reordering Images
The first image is your main product image - it's what buyers see in search results and listings!
- Drag and drop images to reorder them
- Put your best image first
- Save your changes
Pro Tip 💡: Your main image should clearly show your design on the product. Lifestyle photos are great, but save them for positions 2-5.
Pro Tip 💡
Improve your images over time! As you learn what works, replace your images with better ones. Many successful sellers update their images 2-3 times before finding the perfect set.
Customization Options
If your product type supports customization, you can:
- Add new customization fields
- Remove existing fields
- Update field labels and descriptions
- Change character limits
Example: You originally allowed 15 characters for custom text, but buyers keep requesting more. Update the limit to 25 characters!
Affiliate Settings
Update your affiliate commission settings:
Enabling Affiliates (If Not Already Enabled)
- Toggle Enable Affiliate Commission to "On"
- Set your commission percentage (typically 10-15%)
- Save your changes
Affiliates can now promote your product!
Changing Commission Percentage
Want to incentivize more affiliates? Increase your commission:
- Update the commission percentage
- Save your changes
- New commission applies to all future sales
Example: Increase from 10% to 15% during a promotion to get more affiliate promotion.
Disabling Affiliates
If you no longer want affiliates promoting this product:
- Toggle Enable Affiliate Commission to "Off"
- Save your changes
Note: Existing affiliate links will stop working, but past commissions are still honored.
Pro Tip 💡
Seasonal commission boosts! Increase your affiliate commission during peak seasons (holidays, back-to-school) to get more promotion when it matters most.
Step 5: Review and Save
Before clicking Update Product, review your changes:
What Changed? ✓
The edit page highlights what you've changed:
- Modified fields are marked with a colored indicator
- You can see before/after for major changes
- Review the summary of changes
Ready to Save?
Click the green Update Product button at the bottom of the page!
What Happens After You Save?
Your changes take effect immediately! Here's what happens:
Immediate Changes:
- New product name, description, images appear on product page
- New variants become available for purchase
- Disabled variants are hidden from buyers
- New prices are shown on product page
- Updated tags affect search results
Existing Orders:
- Orders already placed are not affected by your changes
- Buyers who ordered disabled variants will still receive them
- Price changes don't affect existing orders
Search & Discovery:
- Updated tags and description improve search visibility
- Category changes affect where your product appears
- Better images can improve click-through rates

- Reduce prices for all variants (e.g., $24.99 → $19.99)

- Remember: Change prices back after the sale ends!
Pro Tip 💡: Take a screenshot of your original prices so you remember what to change them back to!

Steps:
- Go to Step 4: Images and Settings
- Upload your new high-quality images

- Check the boxes for XL and 2XL variants

Pro Tips for Editing Products 🚀
1. Use Analytics to Guide Your Edits
Check Seller Panel → Analytics to see:
- Which variants sell best (keep these, consider removing others)
- Which search terms bring traffic (add these as tags)
- Where buyers drop off (improve images or description)
2. Test Price Changes
Don't be afraid to experiment with pricing:
- Try increasing by $1-2 and monitor sales
- Run temporary sales to boost visibility
- Test different prices for different variants
3. Seasonal Updates
Update your products for seasons and holidays:
- Add seasonal tags in November-December
- Update descriptions to mention gift-giving
- Run sales during peak shopping periods
4. Improve Images Gradually
You don't need perfect images from day one:
- Start with good-enough images
- Replace them with better ones as you learn
- Test different image styles to see what works
5. Respond to Customer Feedback
If customers ask questions or leave reviews mentioning something:
- Add that information to your description
- Update images to show what they're asking about
- Enable variants they're requesting
6. Keep Descriptions Fresh
Update your description every few months:
- Add new use cases you've discovered
- Mention customer testimonials
- Update for current trends
7. Monitor Competitor Pricing
Check similar products regularly:
- Adjust your pricing to stay competitive
- Don't race to the bottom - focus on value
- Consider raising prices if you're selling well
Common Mistakes to Avoid ❌
1. Disabling All Variants
If you uncheck all variants, buyers can't purchase your product! Always keep at least one variant enabled.
2. Forgetting to Save Changes
Made updates but didn't click "Update Product"? Your changes aren't saved! Always click the green button at the bottom.
3. Deleting All Images
You need at least one image! Don't delete all images before uploading new ones.
4. Changing Prices During Active Orders
Price changes don't affect existing orders, but it can be confusing. If you have many pending orders, wait until they're fulfilled before major price changes.
5. Making Too Many Changes at Once
If you change everything (name, images, description, pricing, variants), you won't know what worked! Make one change at a time and monitor results.
6. Not Testing After Editing
After saving changes, visit your product page as a buyer would. Make sure everything looks correct!
7. Removing Popular Variants
Check your Analytics before disabling variants! You might accidentally remove your best-selling option.
Editing vs. Creating New Products
When to Edit:
- ✅ Updating prices
- ✅ Improving images
- ✅ Tweaking description
- ✅ Adding/removing variants within existing types
- ✅ Changing category or tags
- ✅ Updating affiliate settings
When to Create New:
- ❌ Adding a completely different design
- ❌ Selling the same design on different product types
- ❌ Creating a variation that's significantly different
Example: You have a "Mountain Sunrise T-Shirt" and want to sell the same design on Mugs. Create a new product for the Mug version!
